Cameron calls on Russia to convince parties in Syrian conflict to begin negotiations
LONDON. June 17 (Interfax) - Russia and all G8 countries should convince the parties in the conflict in Syria to begin negotiations as soon as possible and should not support Damascus, British Prime Minister David Cameron said on Monday.
Cameron also said at the G8 summit in Northern Ireland that Russian President Vladimir Putin and the leaders of other countries have deep differences on the situation in Syria.
Nevertheless, Cameron reiterated that Russia and the West should unite their diplomatic efforts, which should cause Syrian President Bashar Assad to step down.
