Dollar, euro fall against ruble early on Monday, bounce back later
MOSCOW. June 17 (Interfax) - The dollar and euro fell against the ruble in the first half of the trading session on Monday, but bounced back later in the day to finish slightly higher.
The dollar was up 4.05 kopecks to 31.7695 rubles/$1 as of 7:00 p.m. on the Moscow Exchange. The euro was up 9 kopecks to 42.4075 rubles/EUR1, having bottomed out at 42.015 rubles/EUR1 earlier in the session.
The bi-currency basket rose 6 kopecks to 36.56 rubles.
The Central Bank lowered the official dollar rate for Tuesday by 12.39 kopecks to 31.679 rubles/$1 and lowered its euro rate by 21.93 kopecks to 42.2249 rubles/EUR1.
The dollar averaged down 18 kopecks to 31.6207 rubles/$1 in Today deals and down 14.48 kopecks to 31.6289 rubles/$1 in Tom deals. Overall trading volume was $7.837 billion, including $2.072 billion Today and $5.765 billion Tom.
The euro was down 24.65 kopecks to 42.1438 rubles/EUR1 in Today deals and down 17.03 kopecks to 42.1528 rubles/EUR1 in Tom deals in volume of EUR648 million, including EUR267 million Today and EUR381 million Tom.
The MosPrime Rate for overnight credits rose just 1 basis point to 6.31%.
