Georgia takes into account advise of Europe, U.S. to improve relations with Russia - Parliament Speaker

TBILISI. June 19 (Interfax) - The current Georgian government has different views on the relations with Russia than the former one, however the issue of security still remains difficult, Georgian Parliament Speaker David Usupashvili said.

"There are issues on which the new government has new views - this is Russia. We take into account the advise of our European and U.S. friends that we have to improve the relations with it," Usupashvili said on June 18 when speaking at the European Parliament's Committee of Foreign Affairs.

Fragments of Usupashvili's speech were aired on the Georgian TV.

At the same time, security remains the issue on which Tbilisi and Moscow can not reach an agreement, Usupashvili said.

Georgia does not intend to stop participating in NATO mission in Afghanistan and is ready to participate in the EU mission in Mali, Usupashvili said.
