TMH-Alstom venture to start tram production in 2013

ST. PETERSBURG. June 20 (Interfax) - Tram production at the Oktyabrsky Electric Railcar Repair Plant in St. Petersburg under a joint venture between Russia's Transmashholding (TMH) and France's Alstom (LLC TramRus) is scheduled to begin before the end of 2013, Alstom Russia president Philippe Pegorier told reporters on Wednesday.

The production site is now being prepared, and serial production of trams should begin by the end of the year, he said.

Pegorier could not specify the production capacity as he said this will depend on orders. Trams will probably first be supplied to Moscow and other cities, but negotiations are also underway with St. Petersburg, he said.
