Smoke fills Ostankino TV tower's 8th floor due to short circuit

MOSCOW. June 22 (Interfax) - Visitors were evacuated from a viewing platform after smoke filled Ostankino TV Tower' s eighth floor due to a short circuit on Saturday, Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network told Interfax.

A short circuit at the TV transmission division on the eighth floor at about 3 p.m. led to smoke filling an area of about 2 square meters. The tower's fire alarm was activated, and its services on duty called a fire brigade in. The smoke was eliminated by 3: 35 p.m.

A group of visitors was evacuated from the viewing platform.
