Russia might export 1.8-2 mln tonnes of grain in July - expert

MOSCOW. June 25 (Interfax) - Russia has started gathering its new harvest and might export up to 1.8-2 million tonnes in July, Director of the Analysis Division of the Strategic Marketing Department at CJSC Rusagrotrans Igor Pavensky forecasts.

"Exports in July might total 1.8-2 million tonnes, compared to 2.06 million tonnes in July 2012 and 2.5 million tonnes in July 2011," Pavensky told Interfax.

The slight decline in comparison with previous years is connected with lower carryover reserves and the absence of one of Russia's key wheat importers - Egypt, he said.

Russia might export around 400,000 tonnes of grain this month. For the outgoing agricultural year as a whole (June 2012 to June 2013), the expert estimates exports of grains and legumes at nearly 16.26 million tonnes, down from 28.4 million tonnes the previous agricultural year.

Russia will export 10.89 million tonnes of wheat this agricultural year (21.17 million tonnes in the previous agricultural year), 2.22 million tonnes of barley (3.56 million tonnes), 1.94 million tonnes of corn (1.89 million tonnes), 670,000 tonnes of legumes (800,000 tonnes), 440,000 tonnes of other crops (580,000 tonnes) and 100,000 tonnes of flour expressed in grain (400,000 tonnes).

According to Agriculture Ministry data seen by Interfax, Russia exported 249,100 tonnes of grain from June 1 to June 20. That included 116,100 tonnes of wheat, 99,400 tonnes of corn and 27,500 tonnes of barley.
