Moscow guided with parity principle in arms trade - Bordyuzha
YEREVAN. June 26 (Interfax) - Moscow is guided with the parity principle in selling armaments to non-CSTO member countries, Collective Security Treaty Organization Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha said.
"This is business, the economy of the Russian Federation. It is another matter that parity is the main guiding principle for selling weapons to non-CSTO countries. This principle was kept in mind in selling armaments to your neighbor (Azerbaijan)," Bordyuzha said in Yerevan. He was asked about the delivery of almost $1 billion worth of weapons to Azerbaijan.
Bordyuzha is visiting Armenia to attend the second forum, "Political and Security Guidelines in the Formation of the CSTO Military Component".
In turn, Armenian National Security Council Secretary Artur Bagdasarian said that Yerevan was interested in the CSTO development and stronger role.
"The CSTO should develop in three areas, namely, the strengthening of its military component, peacekeeping and the formation of new structures, such as a collective air force and a collective special operations force," Bagdasarian said.
