Russian rescue exercise claims two lives - ministry

MOSCOW. June 26 (Interfax) - Two rescue workers have been killed during an exercise in the Russian Arctic, the Emergencies Ministry said on Wednesday.

The ministry told Interfax that a preliminary investigation suggested one of the men was killed while training how to disembark from a helicopter on water and the other died in trying to help him.

The incident occurred in Naryan-Mar, administrative center of the Nenets autonomous region.

The two men were not Emergencies Ministry rescuers but were members of the Nenets rescue service, the ministry's Northwestern Regional Center told Interfax.
