Gazprom paid more taxes that Rosneft last year - Miller
MOSCOW. June 28 (Interfax) - Gazprom paid more taxes to the Russian Federation last year than did Rosneft , Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said at the company's AGM.
"In 2012, the overall amount of tax payments was 1.9 trillion rubles. For reference, Rosneft paid the budget 1.7 trillion rubles, meaning that Gazprom is the biggest taxpayer in the country," Miller said.
Asked about the significant growth in the price of gas on the Russian market, Miller said that Gazprom "worked and will be working in the channel the state establishes."
Gazprom "will continue to achieve economically effective work results," he said.
At the end of April, Rosneft President Igor Sechin noted during Investor Day in London that the oil major was paying significant taxes in comparison with Gazprom. "I want to wish Gazprom success, successes. This is a big company, a mainstay of our economy and [wish] to give more taxes to the budget, because we [pay] almost three trillion rubles, and Gazprom, which is incomparably bigger than us, one and a half trillion rubles," Sechin said.
