Russia may deny entry to 400,000 foreigners for breaking rules of stay
MOSCOW. July 1 (Interfax) - The Federal Migration Service intends to deny entry to 400,000 foreigners, who have breached the rules of stay in Russia, before the end of this year, Service Director Konstantin Romodanovsky said.
"We have prohibited the arrivals of almost 110,000 foreign citizens for three years for breaching the rules of stay," Romodanovsky replied to an Interfax question.
Forty percent of them are citizens of Uzbekistan.
"This is equivalent to the population of a medium-sized city of Uzbekistan. That is a lot," Romodanovsky said.
"We have Napoleonic plans. Hopefully, approximately 400,000 [persons] will be barred before the end of this year," he said.
Entry will be denied to visa-free travelers who violate the rules of stay in Russia, Romodanovsky added.
