Socar suspends swap gas shipments to Iran
BAKU. July 2 (Interfax) - State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (Socar) suspended swap gas shipments to Iran on Tuesday, a statement posted on the official Socar website says.
"Gas deliveries to Iran have been halted in connection with repair work on the trunk gas pipeline Astara-Kazimagomed, which is planned to start July third. Due to this, the pumping of gas to the Astara modular electricity station will also be halted from July third to fourth," the statement says.
When the delivery of gas to Iran will resume is not specified.
Swap deliveries of 1.3 million cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas per day for the needs of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan are being made. The autonomous republic does not share a common border with the main territory of Azerbaijan but does border with Iran, Armenia, and Turkey.
