Patrushev states mounting interest in Russian initiative of security forums

VLADIVOSTOK. July 3 (Interfax) - Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev has stated a mounting interest in the joint search for answers to the 21st century challenges at the Vladivostok international security forum.

"The Russian initiative of annual meetings of senior security officials enjoys unwavering support. This means the administrations of many countries believe it is much more efficient to provide national, regional and global security with common efforts rather than alone," Patrushev said at the forum opening ceremony on Wednesday.

Delegates from 44 countries attended the first international security forum held in Sochi four years ago. The next forum was held in Yekaterinburg and attracted representatives of 50 states. Delegates from 59 countries participated in last year's forum in St. Petersburg and delegates from 60 states are taking part in the Vladivostok forum, he said.

"I am confident we can continue on this floor the collective search for common approaches and solutions to topical problems and common answers to the 21st century threats and challenges," Patrushev said.

The event held under the aegis of the Russian Security Council will last through July 4. The delegates will discuss the prevention of money laundering on Wednesday.
