Saakashvili deprives his party of any chance at presidential elections in Georgia - Ivanishvili

TBILISI. July 3 (Interfax) - Former ruling coalition United National Movement and its leader Mikheil Saakashvili are doing everything to alienate Georgian society so that they do not stand a chance in the upcoming presidential elections, Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili said at a news conference on Wednesday.

"I will refer to just one fact: President Saakashvili set the presidential elections for October 31, the last day of his rule. The elections fall on a Thursday, which means that almost 1.2 million Georgian emigrants will not be able to participate in the elections. This man only thinks of himself and nothing else. He shows this with each action that all of Georgia is at his service and not vice versa," Ivanishvili said.

Ivanishvili said he did not exclude the possibility that amid the vacuum of support for the former ruling party, new opposition force could emerge among the population.

"I do not exclude the possibility that in this case an opposition force could appear in our coalition, Georgian Dream," Ivanishvili said.

Ivanishvili said he was opposed to holding early parliamentary elections.
