Uralkali cuts potash output 17% to 2.4 mln tonnes in Q2

MOSCOW. July 4 (Interfax) - Uralkali cut potassium chloride output 17.2% year-on-year in Q2 2013 to 2.4 million tonnes, the company said in a statement.

The company produced 4.5 million tonnes of in the first half of 2013, down 6.25% year-on-year.

Potash production fell 16% in 2012 to 9.12 million tonnes, a figure that includes output by potash miner Silvinit.

Uralkali plans to raise output 4.2% in 2013 to 9.5 million tonnes.

Its CEO, Vladislav Baumgertner, has said output might even rise to 10.5 million tonnes if a supply contract is signed with China in Q3.
