Russian expels 81 guest workers after Moscow suburb raids

MOSCOW. July 5 (Interfax) - Eighty-one guest workers have been expelled from Russia with re-entry bans after raids by police and Federal Migration Service personnel in the Moscow suburb of Balashikha this week, the FMS said.

"More than 600 foreign nationals and stateless persons, more than 130 automotive vehicles and nearly 20 apartments let to foreigners were checked," the FMS said in a statement.

Legal action was taken against 119 foreign nationals for illegal work, and the Balashikha Town Court, ordered the expulsion of 81 foreign nationals from Russia and banned their re-entry into the country, the statement said.

About 20 Russian officials were fined for the illegal use of foreign labor.

The raids, started on Monday and finished on Thursday, included patrolling Balashikha streets and visits to people's homes by police and FMS operatives.
