Russian seaport cargo turnover could reach 580 mln tonnes in 2013 - Sokolov
ST. PETERSBURG. July 8 (Interfax) - Cargo turnover at Russian seaports this year could weigh in at 580 million tonnes, Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov told reporters in St. Petersburg on Saturday.
"In the first five months we see an increase in ports' load of three and a little percent. And if that trend persists, we will get to around five hundred and eighty million tonnes [of transshipped cargo] at seaports," Sokolov said.
Cargo turnover at river ports could grow from fifteen to twenty percent and reach 140-145 million tonnes, the minister said.
It was reported earlier, citing figures from the Association of Commercial Seaports, that Russian seaports handled 565.5 million tonnes of cargo last year, a 5.6% increase on 2011.
