Continental begins trial tire production in Kaluga

MOSCOW. July 8 (Interfax) - Continental has begun trial tire production at its plant in Kaluga, a company statement says.

The plant prepared its first experimental product from imported raw material early in March. On July 8, the plant moved to production using its own components and materials.

Investment in the building of the Continental plant's first production line was 240 million euros. The enterprise's production capacity will make possible first-stage output of four million tires per year. That will increase to sixteen million tires annually, including two million truck tires.

Continental Kaluga LLC will be making Continental, Gislaved, and Matador summer and winter tires.
