Head of European diplomacy to visit Moldova

BRUSSELS. July 8 (Interfax) - EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton will fly to Moldova for a visit on Tuesday, her press service announced in Brussels on Monday.

"Moldova has demonstrated its commitment to cooperation with the European Union and in Chisinau I will stress our reciprocal commitment to Moldova's political association and

economic integration with the EU," Ashton said ahead of her visit.

"I will also underscore the EU's support for the on-going political and economic reforms in Moldova, as well as in addressing challenges like stabilizing the institutions of democracy, fighting corruption and moving towards the settlement of the Transdniestrian-conflict," she said.

In Chisinau Ashton will meet Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, Foreign Minister Natalia Gherman, parliament speaker Igor Corman, the leaders of political parties and factions.
