Prokhorov says all members of his Civil Platform career politicians
IVANOVO, Russia. July 8 (Interfax) - All members, approximately 750, of Russia's Civil Platform party are career politicians, the party leader, billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, said on Monday.
"Civil Platform is small but consists only of professional politicians," Prokhorov told a news conference in Ivanovo. "The members of our party are people who are pursuing professional political careers. Among our supporters are public activists, people who care about what happens around them and who are willing to build political careers for themselves."
Andrei Nazarov of Civil Platform's Ivanovo branch said several dozen people in the Ivanovo region are members of the party and that about 2,000 people are willing to join it.
He expressed hope the region's population would support Civil Platform at regional elections on September 8.
