Sibur-Neftekhim outsources industrial gases production to Linde Gas

NIZHNY NOVGOROD. July 9 (Interfax) - Sibur-Neftekhim from Nizhny Novgorod region has outsourced industrial gas production to Linde Gas Rus, a subsidiary of German Linde AG, effective July 1, the company said in a statement.

The air separation unit that Sibur-Neftekhim previously used in the ethylene oxide and glycol production cycle, along with auxiliary equipment at the facility, have been leased to Linde Gas Rus. The existing technical staff will continue working at the plant, the statement says.

It was reported earlier that Linde would take over management of Sibur's air separation facility in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region, and build a new unit at the plant at its own expense. Linde will invest about 70 million euro in the project. The new unit, which will have capacity to produce about 30,000 cubic meters of gaseous oxygen an hour, is slated for startup in 2015.

In addition, in September 2012 Linde Gas announced plans to invest 60 million euro on construction of two air separation units and associated infrastructure to produce technical gases - 1,160 tonnes per day in all - on Sibur-Neftekhim property.

A number of Sibur subsidiaries operate in Nizhny Novgorod region: OJSC Sibur-Neftekhim, OJSC Oka-Polymer Industrial Park (both from Dzerzhinsk), Biaxplen LLC (Balakhna), Sibur-Kstovo LLC and RusVinyl (both joint ventures between Sibur and SolVin, both from Kstovo) and Sibur-Business Services Center (Nizhny Novgorod).

Linde Gas is a leading supplier of technical gases in Europe and worldwide. Linde owns stakes in Urals Technical Gases Plant from Yekaterinburg, Balshikha Oxygen Plant from Moscow region, and an acetylene production facility in Kaliningrad. Linde gained control of the assets in 2000, when it acquired Swedish AGA, which had purchased them in 1994.
