MOSCOW. July 9 (Interfax) - Russia exported 1.96% less oil to countries outside of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in January-May 2013 than it did in the same five months of 2012, at 85.51 billion tonnes, the Russian Federal Customs Service (FCS) reported.

Fuel and energy served as the basis of Russian exports to the non-CIS, accounting for 74.7% of the total in January-May 2013, compared to 73.9% in the same five months of 2012.

Overall fuel and energy exports to the non-CIS in value declined 2.8% year-on-year. Physical exports of gasoline grew 13.1%, exports of diesel fuel rose 15.7%, and exports of natural gas were up 7.5%. At the same time, exports of liquid fuels declined 7.1% in the five months.

In terms of exports to the CIS, fuel and energy were responsible for 48.6% of the total in January-May 2013, compared to 57.6% in January-May 2012. Physical exports of oil edged down 1.6%, while those of petroleum products slumped 44%, including a 66.3% drop in diesel fuel exports, a 21.1% fall in liquid fuel exports, and a 12% decline in natural gas exports. At the same time, physical exports of gasoline to the CIS soared 58.6%, and kerosene exports skyrocketed 120%.

Overall Russian oil exports reached 97.576 billion tonnes in January-May 2013.

According to the FCS, Russia exported 80 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas in the first five months of this year, compared to 79.6 bcm last year.
