Ukrainian monetary base up 1.8%, money supply grows 1.6% in June

KYIV. July 10 (Interfax) - The monetary base in Ukraine increased by 1.8% in June to UAH 275.7 billion, while its money supply rose by 1.6% to UAH 834.5 billion, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) reported on its website.

From the beginning of the year to June, the monetary base grew by 8%, and the money supply expanded by 7.9%.

According to the report, in June the volume of cash outside banks grew by 2.7% to UAH 219.8 billion. Year-to-date, it grew by 8.1%.

"Ending funds in the national currency in deposits raised by banks and loans they issued continued to grow in June. At the same time, a decline was recorded in the cost of resources in the national currency in all segments of the money and credit market within the month," the statement said.

According to the NBU, the total balance of bank deposits in June grew by UAH 7.1 billion, or 1.2% (from the beginning of the year - by 7.8%), to UAH 612.4 billion. In particular, individual funds in deposit accounts rose by 3% (from the start of the year - by 12.2%) to UAH 410.6 billion, and corporate deposits were down by 2.3% (from the beginning of the year - 0.1%) to UAH 201.8 billion.
