Medvedev voices full support to Yekaterinburg bid to host EXPO 2020

YEKATERINBURG. July 11 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev asked African partners at the Urals-Africa economic forum to support Yekaterinburg's bid to host EXPO 2020.

"Just a bit of promotion on my part: there is no doubt that Yekaterinburg is a perfect place for holding this grandiose event. I would like to mention that the Russian bid, the bid of Yekaterinburg, enjoys the full support of the authorities, the president, the government and the parliament," Medvedev said on Thursday.

It is even more important that the Russian bid has a broad backing by the public in Yekaterinburg and the Sverdlovsk region, which has a total population of approximately 4.5 million, he said.
