HRW Moscow Office representative accepts Snowden's invitation

MOSCOW. July 12 (Interfax) - Deputy head of the Human Rights Watch (HRW) Moscow Office Tatyana Lokshina has agreed to meet with former CIA employee Edward Snowden at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport.

"I will go there especially to stop the public from getting the impression that our organization is indifferent to this matter," Lokshina told Interfax on Friday.

Lokshina said earlier today that she was not going to be able to make it to the meeting.

Lokshina said that she changed her mind because "we care, and I am ready to sacrifice my work day even if this meeting does not take place."

"I received the invitation last night. It was badly written, and I doubted that it was authentic," she said.

Russian human rights commissioner Vladimir Lukin and director of the Amnesty International Russian Office Sergei Nikitin told Interfax on Friday that they were ready to meet with Snowden, who is still in the transit area of Sheremetyevo Airport.

Snowden said he was going to tell Russian and international human rights activists about his further plans if they agreed to meet with him.
