Greatness shown by Soviet people at battle fields should be always remembered - Putin

PROKHOROVKA. July 12 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin told veterans that a separate plan of action to bring monuments of federal and municipal importance to order would be developed.

Putin was asked to pay attention to keeping monuments and military burials in order at a meeting with World War II veterans near the Prokhorovka field in the Belgorod region.

This issue is of extreme importance not only for all veterans but for the entire country, especially the younger generation, Putin said. "It is necessary that the country always remembers the greatness of the Soviet people, exhibited by you and your fellow soldiers during World War II, the Great Patriotic War, so that this serves as an example for young people. So that your example brings the country together, unites it and brings up young people in a spirit of love for their homeland," the Russian president said. Monuments play a very important role here, he said.
