Kucherena: Snowden does not qualify for state protection
MOSCOW. July 17 (Interfax) - Former CIA employee Edward Snowden does not qualify for protection by the state even there is a theoretical threat to his life, lawyer Anatoly Kucherena told reporters on Wednesday.
"The Refugee Status Law does not include state protection. He will have the same rights as any other person eligible under these regulations," Kucherena said.
"Theoretically, anything is possible," Kucherena, the head of the Russian Interior Ministry Public Council, answered the question if there was a threat to the former intelligence officer's life.
