Navalny will continue mayoral campaign after Thursday court ruling - Sobyanin

MOSCOW. July 17 (Interfax) - Opposition activist Alexei Navalny will continue his mayoral election campaign in Moscow after a Kirov court hands down its ruling in a criminal case against Navalny on Thursday, acting Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

"To be honest, I don't know what prospects candidate Navalny has. We have done all we could to have him registered, so that Muscovites have a broader choice among the Moscow mayoral candidates," Sobyanin told journalists on Wednesday.

"As for the trial, I am not a great procedure specialist. I believe that whatever ruling the first level court hands down, this will not change anything for [Navalny] and he will continue his election campaign," Sobyanin said.
