Sobyanin wants Navalny to run in Moscow mayor elections
MOSCOW. July 19 (Interfax) - All of the registered candidates should continue taking part in the Moscow mayoral race, the city's acting Mayor Sergei Sobyanin told reporters.
"In my opinion, removing any candidates would be wrong," he said, commenting on the possibility of Alexei Navalny, who represents the RPR-PARNAS opposition party, pulling out of the elections.
"We have invested a lot time and registered both Navalny and other candidates to give Muscovites as much choice as possible," Sobyanin said.
"I believe that everything possible should be done to encourage all of the registered candidates to continue their election campaigns," he said.
