Natural gas supplies from Russia to Armenia fall 7.2% in H1
YEREVAN. July 19 (Interfax) - Natural gas supplies from Russia to Armenia fell 7.2% year-on-year to 945 million cubic meters (bcm) in H1 2013, CJSC ArmRosGazprom said in a press release.
Sales were down 2.2% to 825.7 mcm.
Natural gas consumption fell 10% to 300.7 mcm at households, 15.4% to 84.8 mcm in the energy sector and 5.8% to 97.7 mcm in other sectors, but rose 13.6% to 135.4 mcm in the industrial sector.
Gas consumption by CNG filling stations increased rose 10.7% to 207 million cu m.
Armenia has been buying Russian gas for $270 per thousand cu m instead of $180 since April 1. Prior to that, prices had not altered since April 2010. The government has decided to compensate 30% of the import price of gas.
The monopoly gas supplier in Armenia is ArmRosGazprom, 80% of which is owned by Gazprom and 20% of which belongs to the Armenian government.
