Two wildfires extinguished in Far East, ten still burning
KHABAROVSK. July 25 (Interfax) - Twelve forest fires broke out in the Far Eastern Federal District in the past 24 hours, the district forestry department said on Thursday.
"There were ten fires in Yakutia, one in the Magadan region and another one in the Khabarovsk territory. Firemen put out the fire in the Khabarovsk territory and one of the ten fires in Yakutia," it said.
Flames spread over 10,677 hectares in Yakutia on Wednesday.
Some 175 firemen, one fire truck and four aircraft were combating the blaze.
In all, the district has had more than 923 wildfires over approximately 450,000 hectares since the beginning of this wildfire season.
