Putin demands elimination of gap between development of new ships, weapons for them
NOVO-OGARYOVO. July 29 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said weapons developers are not keeping pace with ship developers.
"No clear interaction has still been established between those who build ships and those who equip them with weapons. In many cases, weapons developers fall behind," Putin said at a meeting on the prospects of further development of the Russian Navy and the supply of weapons and military equipment to the fleet.
"This work should be comprehensive: the experimental and construction work to create prospective models of weapons and equipment need to be conducted simultaneously with the date of ships' being commissioned," he said.
"It's especially important for leading projects," Putin said.
