Federal Penitentiary Service Department employee killed in Tatarstan
KAZAN. July 29 (Interfax) - The murder of a 27-year-old junior inspector of the Detention Facility No. 4 security service of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service Department for Tatarstan is being investigated in the region, senior aid to the Russian Investigative Committee's regional investigative department head Andrei Sheptitsky told Interfax on Monday.
A local resident, 26, has been detained on suspicion of committing the crime. The individual has a suspended sentence for burglary and theft.
Investigators think that the man while being drunk attacked the inspector with a knife in the village of Nikolayevka in Tatarstan's Menzelinsky district, where the inspector stayed during his vacation.
The inspector was brought with a stab wound in the chest to the Menzelinsky central district hospital on late July 28, where he died.
The criminal case under the Russian Criminal Code Article 105 Part 1, murder, has been opened.
