Policemen aptly refrained from using weapons in Moscow market brawl - spokesman
MOSCOW. July 30 (Interfax) - The policemen who detained a suspected rapist at the Matveyevsky market on Saturday had no right to use their weapons, even though they were aggressively attacked, Moscow police spokesman told Interfax.
"The policemen's decision not to use weapons after they detained the suspected rapist of a teenage girl, even after one of their colleague was beaten, was appropriate," he said.
Criminal police personnel have no right to use their weapons in such situations, he added.
Several people attacked a policeman during the arrest of a suspected rapist of a teenage girl at the Matveyevsky market on Saturday. One of them struck the policeman, presumably with brass knuckles, inflicting serious head trauma.
