Customs Union raw-sugar import duty for August - $171/tonne

MOSCOW. Aug 1 (Interfax) - The Customs Union import duty for raw sugar will be $171 per tonne from today until the end of this month, a letter from Russia's Federal Customs Service (FCS) says.

The import duty rate is pegged to the average arithmetic price for raw sugar on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). The price was $365.66/tonne in June.

The $171/tonne duty in August will apply to the import of sugar with flavoring or coloring additives.

In May-July, the import duty on raw sugar was $205/tonne, up from the previous $140/tonne.

According to the confirmed Eurasian Economic Commission tariff, in the periods from January 1 to April 30 and August 1 to December 31 the average monthly price for raw sugar on the NYMEX of not more than $286.6/tonne duty on raw sugar is $270/tonne. If it is not less than $286.61/tonne, but not more than $324.08/tonne, the duty is $240/tonne; if not less than $324.09/tonne, but not more than $361.56/tonne - $203; if not less than $361.57/tonne, not more than $396.83/tonne - $171/tonne; if not less than $396.84/tonne - $140/tonne.
