Head of Moscow's Izmailovo district police fired

MOSCOW. Aug 1 (Interfax) - The head of the Izmailovo district police department in eastern Moscow, two local policemen and the chief of the Golyanovo district police department have lost their jobs for failing to effectively crack down on illegal immigrants living in those districts, a Moscow police spokesman told Interfax.

"Moscow police chief Anatoly Yakunin has dismissed the head of the Izmailovo district police department and his two deputies for lack of action in the fight against illegal immigration," the spokesman said.

The Russian Investigative Committee will handle the inquiries against them, he said.

"The Golyanovo district's police head was dismissed as well," he said.

The director of the district police officers department of Moscow's Eastern Administrative District was also dismissed, the spokesman said.
