Head of space project national company arrested in Kazakhstan
ASTANA. Aug 5. (Interfax) - The financial police have arrested the Gabdullatif Murzakulov, President of Kazakhstan Garysh Sapary national company for bribery.
The company was established to implement the national space program for 2005-2007. Its main lines of business are involvement in the development and implementation of current and long-term interindustry space programs, the introduction of space technologies, R&D related to the development of space systems and complexes.
Murzakulov is charged with lobbying the interests of another entity during contests for the construction of a satellite assembly and test facility worth over 15 billion tenge and receiving a bribe amounting to $272,000 and 75.3 million tenge from its top manager.
Two other persons suspected in extending the bribe and mediating the deal were arrested along with Murzakulov.
