Belaruskali, Qatar trading company confirm agreement on joint exports

MINSK. Aug 6 (Interfax) - Belaruskali and Qatar's Muntajat QJSC have confirmed their agreement on joint sales of potash fertilizer, the Belarusian company told Interfax.

"Belaruskali and Muntajat, which has permits to export up to 10 million tonnes of chemical and petrochemical product a year, confirmed on Tuesday the agreement on joint sale of potash fertilizer they concluded earlier," the statement says.

The agreement gives Belarus the opportunity to sell potassium chloride on new export markets.

Their agreement gives Muntajat the right to market and sell up to 3 million tonnes of Belarusian potash a year.

Muntajat CEO Abdulrahman Ali al-Abdulla commented on the framework agreement: "The agreement on sale of Belarusian potash fertilizer reflects the strategic development of Muntajat's business. In addition to our operations as a network for selling chemical and petrochemical product from extractive companies in Qatar, we are expanding sales of new products that fit with our global operations."

"Potash fertilizer is in great demand in developed and emerging markets," Muntajat Marketing and Sales Director Yousef Jahem al Kuwari said.

"Inclusion of this product in the sales portfolio in addition to nitrate fertilizers sold by Muntajat companies strengthens our positions in the sector and offer clients a major advantage, since they will be able to obtain carbamide and potash from the same supplier," he said.

Muntajat Chemical & Petrochemical Marketing & Distribution Company QJSC holds exclusive rights to purchase, market, distribute and sell Qatar's chemical and petrochemical products on the world market.

Qatar's extractive companies produce 10 million tonnes of chemical products, polymers and fertilizer a year, which it sells in over 120 countries worldwide.
