Moscow forecasts "cold spell" in relations with Washington - newspaper
MOSCOW. Aug 8 (Interfax) - Moscow believes that U.S. President Barack Obama's decision to cancel his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin will set off political repercussions, Russia's Kommersant newspaper reported on Thursday.
"The situation with Snowden [former CIA employee Edward Snowden who has been granted temporary asylum in Russia] is just an excuse to cancel this meeting," a Kremlin source told the newspaper.
"Americans seek to avoid serious negotiations. Their refusal will inevitably lead to political repercussions - "a cold spell" will start in bilateral relations," Kommersant quoted its Kremlin source as saying.
