State Duma deputies must get rid of their foreign assets by August 19

MOSCOW. Aug 9 (Interfax) - State Duma deputies should get rid of their foreign assets by August 19 under the federal law banning officials from holding foreign accounts and shares, Anatoly Vyborny, a member of the State Duma committee on security and corruption prevention, said.

"I am confident that the overwhelming majority of State Duma deputies will choose work in the parliament and will not give up their mandates for foreign accounts and shares, which will strengthen confidence between society and the authorities," the press service for the United Russia faction of the State Duma quoted Vyborny as saying on Friday.

Parliamentarians had three months to make this decision, Vyborny said. "This regulation, which applies to people whose duties involve making decisions affecting the sovereignty and national security of Russia, is a vital measure of our anti-corruption policies," he said.
