New general director of Russian Helicopters may be appointed - newspaper
MOSCOW. Aug 12 (Interfax) - Rostekh will not extend the contract of Russian Helicopters General Director Dmitry Petrov, which expires this fall, the newspaper Kommersant wrote on Monday.
"Most probably, his place will be taken by Alexander Mikheyev who currently supervises aviation projects at Rosoboronexport," the newspaper said.
Petrov may leave immediately after the MAKS aerospace show of August 27 - September 1, sources told the newspaper.
"Final consultations are being held with Rosoboronexport head Anatoly Isaikin who is not eager to allow the transfer of his deputy but the appointment is likely to be made just the same," one of the sources said.
A primary task of the new general director is to find a strategic investor, the newspaper said, adding that Italian-British AgustaWestland might be the one.
"There was a peak demand for helicopters in the previous years but Russian Helicopters sometimes failed to use that situation to their advantage. The new general director will be expected to suggest new models consistent with the global demand," a helicopter industry worker told Kommersant.
Rostekh declined to make comment to the newspaper. Kommersant also failed to get in touch with an AgustaWestland representative.
A. Mikheyev was born in 1961. He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Civil Aviation Engineering in 1985 with a degree in aircraft operation. Mikheyev has been working in Rosoboronexport since 2001, the newspaper said.
