Sobyanin calls for transport infrastructure towards Vnukovo Airport
ODINTSOVO. Aug 12 (Interfax) - If air traffic through Moscow's Vnukovo Airport increases without the development of surrounding transport infrastructure, there is the threat of a collapse in that direction, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said at a Monday meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the development of transport infrastructure in Moscow and the suburbs.
Sobyanin noted that the Vnukovo route was left out of the program to develop suburban railway transport.
"Some routes were not included in this project. They appeared very recently, after the meeting on the development of the Moscow air hub," the mayor said.
According to plans, traffic at Vnukovo Airport is set to more than double. "And today an Aeroexpress goes there once every hour," Sobyanin said.
"There will be a transport collapse there if we don't include that route in our work," Moscow's mayor said.
