Transaero may suspend flights to Egypt - source

MOSCOW. Aug 15 (Interfax) - Russia's Transaero airline may suspend flights to Egypt after the Thursday meeting at the Federal Tourism Agency, an aviation industry representative told Interfax.

"The possibility of putting flights to Egypt on hold is under consideration. The company will send empty planes [to Egypt] for bringing tourists back to Russia," he said.

Transaero told Interfax they did not make that decision. "We are waiting for the results of the Federal Tourism Agency's meeting, which will begin at 3 p.m. The airline is holding consultations with the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Federal Air Transport Service and tour operators," the airline press service said.

It was reported earlier that the Russian Foreign Ministry had issued a travel alert for Egypt due to the tense situation in the country.
