Gazprom to complete Kovykta field infrastructure development in fall 2016

MOSCOW. Aug 16 (Interfax) - The development of field infrastructure at the Kovykta gas condensate field in the Irkutsk Region will begin in the third quarter of 2013 and be completed in the third quarter of 2016, field operator LLC Gazprom Dobycha Irkutsk materials show.

Gazprom received the license to Kovykta in 2011 after acquiring the assets of former field license holder Rusia Petroleum, and began trial production at the field in October that year in order to supply local consumers.

The general plan for the development of the gas sector that was approved when Gazprom did not yet own Kovykta projected its inclusion in Russia's gas balance after 2017. After Gazprom acquired the field, there was talk that the field might be launched earlier.

The overhaul of the current field of the UPG-102 gas treatment facility is scheduled for completion in July 2015. The company plans to build the first well cluster (No. 106) in May-June 2014, another (No. 101) in June 2014, and two more (No. 107 and No. 201) by March 2016.

The field's production plateau is expected to be 35.3 billion cubic meters of gas per year, Gazprom said in a quarterly report.

Kovykta has ABC1+C2 category reserves of 1.5 trillion cubic meters of gas.
