Pskov, Tambov regions see new outbreaks of African swine fever

MOSCOW. Aug 16 (Interfax) - New outbreaks of African swine fever have been detected in the Pskov and Tambov regions, Russia's Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight Service Rosselkhoznadzor reported.

African swine fever was identified during a study of pathological material collected from two piglet carcasses kept at a private farm, which houses 89 hogs.

The disease was also detected during an inspection of pathological material from dead pigs also located on a private farm containing 116 hogs.

Specialists from the Pskov and Tambov regional veterinary services are currently working at the centers of the outbreaks.

The two regions had experienced outbreaks of African swine fever earlier, as well.
