Russia, China prepare for presidents' meeting at G20 summit

SOCHI. Aug 16 (Interfax-AVN) - China will help Russia all it can to ensure successful organization of the G20 summit in St. Petersburg, Chinese State Council official Yang Jiechi told Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"I would like to assure you that China will make every effort to support your country in ensuring the successful organization of the G20 summit," Yang Jiechi said during a meeting with Putin.

Yang Jiechi also said that China and Russia are preparing for a meeting between the presidents Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping at the G20 summit. He said he is confident that this meeting "will give a powerful impetus to further comprehensive development of Chinese-Russian relations.

"President Xi Jinping gives a lot of attention to the good relations that already exist between us and our deep personal friendship," Yang Jiechi said.

Yang Jiechi gave Putin Xi Jinping's greetings and promised to give Putin's best wishes to Xi Jinping.

Yang Jiechi said the recent ninth round of Russian-Chinese consultations on strategic security involving Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev was successful.
