Six people go missing after collision of ships on Irtysh river - Investigative Committee

MOSCOW. Aug 17 (Interfax) - Divers are looking for six people missing after a passenger ship collided with a barge on the Irtysh river in the Omsk region on Saturday, the Investigative Committee said in a statement on Saturday.

"Six other people are missing, and divers are looking for them," it said.

There were 62 passengers and 4 crewmembers aboard the ship at the moment of its collision with the barge, the committee said. According to preliminary reports, four people were killed and more than 35 others injured, including six minors.

"The captains of both vessels have been questioned, and investigators are currently working with witnesses and collecting some technical documents," it said.

The Investigative Committee has ordered sending experienced investigators from its central office, including criminologists, to the Omsk region to probe the incident, it said.
