Dollar, euro still gaining against ruble in evening trading
MOSCOW. Aug 19 (Interfax) - The dollar and euro are still gaining against the ruble in evening trading on the Moscow Exchange.
The ruble is weakening against the bi-currency basket amid mixed sentiment in the capital markets and as moderate pressure on the Russian currency is maintained.
The dollar was up 2.9 kopecks to 32.93 rubles/$1 as of 6:50 p.m. on the Moscow Exchange and the euro was up 10 kopecks to 43.97 rubles/EUR1. The bi-currency basket ($0.55 and EUR0.45) was up 6 kopecks from Friday's closing value at 37.9 rubles.
The Central Bank lowered its official dollar rate for the tomorrow by 1.95 kopecks to 32.9226 rubles/$1 and its euro rate 7.54 kopecks to 43.8628 rubles/EUR1.
The dollar averaged up 0.5 kopecks to 32.925 rubles/$1 in Today deals and, by 6:42 p.m. and up 2.2 kopecks to 32.932 rubles/$1 in Tom deals. Overall trading volume was $4.186 billion, including $1.5734 billion Today and $2.613 billion Tom.
The euro was down 3.2 kopecks to 43.887 rubles/EUR1 in Today deals and up 1.6 kopecks to 43.94 rubles/EUR1 in Tom deals in volume of EUR452 million, including EUR208 million Today and EUR244 million Tom.
The MosPrime Rate for overnight credits was up 3 basis points to 6.28%.
