Russian Federal Customs Service says Ukrainian goods' customs clearance has no additional procedures - Ukrainian ministry

KYIV. Aug 20 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Ministry of Revenues and Duties and the Russian Federal Customs Service agreed during talks on August 19 that the customs clearance of Ukrainian goods would not have any additional procedures to undergo and would return to normal parameters.

"During the talks, Russia said that as of today, additional procedures for customs clearance of Ukrainian goods are no longer applied and the goods of Ukrainian enterprises will pass through Russian customs regularly. The acuteness of the issue has been lifted," the Ministry of Revenues and Duties press office told Interfax.

According to the information of the press office, a fundamental agreement has been reached that "the key tool for resolving and avoiding such situations in the future will be more active information exchanges between the customs bodies of the two countries, holding bilateral consultations and developing joint approaches, especially in the moments when interests of Ukrainian and Russian companies are affected."

A representative of the Federal Customs Union told Interfax that the agency did not comment on the information released by the Ukrainian ministry. A week earlier, when the information that all Ukrainian importers without an exception were included in the list of risky suppliers emerged in Ukraine, the Russian agency also did not comment.

One day after this, Russian Federal Customs Service Head Andrei Belyaninov said that the situation with delays of goods from Ukraine was related to "sorting out the cargo."

The press office of the Federation of Ukrainian Employers has said that the Russian Federal Customs Service had included all Ukrainian importers on a high risk list on August 14, which indefinitely froze Ukrainian exports to Russia.

The World Trade Organization said on August 16 that it knew nothing about the trade dispute between Ukraine and Russia and that Kyiv had not asked for assistance to resolve the issue.
