No massive evacuation from Khabarovsk considered; only parts of city may be flooded - official

MOSCOW. Aug 21 (Interfax) - There are no plans of any massive evacuation of Khabarovsk's population, official spokesperson for the Emergency Situations Ministry Irina Rossius has said.

"There is no question of any massive evacuation. Only individual territories located in the lowlands may be flooded," she said.

Currently 2,000 professional rescuers are involved in flood resistance efforts and providing assistance to the population in Khabarovsk. The total force consists of approximately 8,000 people. Fifty-five temporary settlement sites have been organized. A tent town for 125 people has been flown in by two planes of the Emergencies Ministry from Moscow.
