Russian foreign minister may visit Japan this year - diplomat
MOSCOW. Aug 22 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov may visit Japan before the end of 2013 to attend a 2+2 meeting of the countries' foreign and defense ministers, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said.
"I am speaking about a possible visit to Japan by the foreign minister of Russia and the prospect of holding a meeting in the 2+2 format before the end of the year," Lukashevich said at a press briefing in Moscow on Thursday.
The agreement to hold such a meeting was reached in April 2013 during the Japanese prime minister's visit to Russia, Lukashevich said.
